Fowl Typhoid
Description :
Live vaccine containing at least 5x107 viable
germs of the 9R (Williams-Smith) strain of Salmonella gallinarum. The freeze-dried pellet contains a stabilizer.
Indication :
Immunization of all classes of healthy chickens against Salmonella gallinarum (Fowl Typhoid) infections.
Vaccination Programme :
The ideal age for primary vaccination is 6 weeks of age. Revaccination at 16-18 weeks is advised.
Dosage and Administration :
The freeze-dried vaccine should be reconstituted in the diluent. Using a sterile syringe and needle, a small quantity of diluent is withdrawn from the vial and agitated to ensure dissolution of the vaccine. The mixture is withdrawn from the vial and
injected into the remainder of the diluent. This procedure should be repeated to ensure complete uptake of the vaccine. The dosage volume is 0.2 ml per dose. Administration should be by subcutaneous injection at the back of the neck.
Precautions and Warnings :
- Only healthy birds should be vaccinated, as sick or weakly birds may not develop a satisfactory immunity.
- The administration of antibiotics or other antibacterial substances with a systemic action should be avoided for 7 days before and for 14 days after vaccination.
- Exposure to infection for some 7 days following vaccination should be avoided to allow immunity to develop.
- Reconstituted vaccine must be used immediately and not be stored
