Avil® & Pheniramine maleate

• For quick relief from allergic manifestations.
• Noteworthy for its potent, rapid and prolonged antihistaminic action as well as for its excellent tolerence.

Composition :
Chemically, Avil is 1-Phenyl-1-Pyridyl-(2)-3 dimethyl aminopropane maleate (Pheniramine maleate).
Each ml contains :  Pheniramine maleate IP 22.75 mg.

Indications :
Itching due to eczema, dermatitis, urticaria, skin oedema, insect bites, photo-dermatitis, rhinitis, tail eczema in horses, stomatitis and inflammation of the hooves of cattle, serum sickness, paresis during pregnancy, toxaemia and retention of placenta, pulmonary oedema in cattle, pulmonary emphysema in horses.

The usefulness of Avil has also been demonstrated in drug allergies, anaphylactic shock, laminitis, atony of the rumen and also in the treatment of acute septic matritis and mastitis inconjunction with antibacterial therapy. Avil is recommended in all inflammatory conditions where histamine is liberated due to the tissue damage.

Note :
It must be noted that antihistamine therapy is a symptomatic treatment and is helpful as a supportive treatment. The treatment of allergic conditions includes the elimination or avoidance of the specific or contributing etiological factors.

Administration and Dosage :
The dosage should be adjusted individually.

Large animals : 5-10 ml. or more
Small animals : 0.5-1 ml. or more

Avil may be administered intramuscularly or intravenously. The onset of action depends upon the mode of administration. An immediate effect is seen on intravenous administration. On intramuscular administration, it takes about 10-20 minutes for the effect to set in. Injection may be repeated after 8-12 hours, if necessary.
